Although Halloween as we know it in the UK, US and other native English speaking countries is not such a tradition here in Spain, each year we are seeing a stronger presence of festivities leading up to the 31st October, which has always been a religious celebration prior to the 1st November bank holiday “El Día de los Muertos” (The Day of the Dead).
Evolution’s biggest crew event of the year is the Halloween party we hold in Barcelona , not taking place this year due to COVID precautions but we can still help you celebrate so here are some ideas and inspirations for this weekend:
PORT AVENTURA is always a THRILL in all senses of the word! The ancestral tradition of the Day of the Dead is a festival originating in Mexico where tribute is paid to the transition from life to death and the return of the deceased to earth to visit their families . But everything does not always go according to plan… In the streets of México, this party has lost all sense of festivity to give rise to one of the most chilling places within PortAventura World. This Halloween, enter the world of the dead . Make your way to La Hacienda in Mexico to discover this new passage, where there will be no shortage of screams . Are you ready?
POBLE ESPANYOL in Montjuïc, Barcelona has its annual Halloween celebrations each weekend until 21st November this year. Dress up and head to their TUNNEL OF TERROR or creep through the cemetery, with restaurants and shows on site also it’s fun and freaky day out for all the crew!
THE WAX MUSEUM on the Rambla in Barcelona is hosting a Halloween Party on Sunday 31st October with games, costume competitions, drinks, music, tapas, photo call and music actually in the museum and amidst its usual residents!!
At the TIBIDABO fun park, or rather in the Krueger Hotel within the Park, check out the Horror Show overlooking our beautiful city as back drop!
HALLOWEEN PARTIES

At this time of year roasted chestnuts , or castanyes in Catalan, panellets – small balls of almond paste coated in pine nuts, sweet potatoes and other autumnal produce, and particularly on La Castanyada is a traditional festival celebrated on 1st November, as part of All Saint’s Day so don’t miss out on trying some from the local street sellers as you roam trick or treating!
