Whether you are an experienced scuba diver looking to explore new territories or a first-time diver considering taking the plunge, this is a highly recommended location for all levels.
The underwater ecosystems that surround Balearic Islands are as breathtakingly beautiful as they are fascinatingly strange .
Popular dive sites include enclosed caves and caverns, and open spaces, where you can find a wide variety of marine life . The landscapes below the water are as diverse as those in the open air. Posidonia sea grass meadows move with the breeze of the currents, and colourful small fish dart in and out of the coral reefs. The occasional shipwreck on the seabed is now home to curious octopus and morays that glide through the open windows.
The recommended season for scuba diving in the Balearics is from May to October . Water temperatures reach a maximum of 26ºC , and although the sensation under the water may feel cooler you will be protected by a wetsuit. There are many diving centres around the islands which offer accompanied dives with certified PADI or SSI instructors. Introductory diving sessions offer an introduction to the use of the equipment and practice dives in shallower waters. Those who are already more confident can go on longer and deeper adventures . The average underwater visibility is between 10-30 metres, and this can even reach 30-40 metres during the summer , so prepare to be submerged in a breath taking 360º expe rience.
