Evolution Yacht Agents is the leading-edge team of professionals dedicated to providing assured and quality support and services to yachts in Spanish waters.
A full range of superyacht specialized services includes: charter license & legal advice, TPA (Vat exemption), customs & logistics operations, provisions & interior supplies, deck & engineering supplies and crew & VIP services.

TPA is a fiscal regime that allows eligible yachts to benefit from a tax exemption, avoiding VAT charges on repairs and maintenance works carried on board.

Evolution Yacht Agents provides a specialised service for non-EU yachts wishing to carry out their refit in Spanish waters without incurring the 21% VAT that usually applies to related work and purchases.

Through the TPA, yachts can be temporarily admitted into Spain for a specified period, enabling them to enjoy exemption from VAT on certain goods and services.

This service is particularly beneficial for yacht owners and operators who plan to spend a limited time in Spain or the wider European Union, as it allows them to avoid the significant costs of VAT while still complying with EU customs regulations. Evolution Agents ensures seamless handling of all the necessary paperwork, legalities, and compliance requirements.

With TPA, clients can benefit from:

Efficient customs processing and expert advice on the duration of stay.

Assistance with extending the Temporary Admission period if required.

Full compliance with Spanish and EU maritime regulations.

By choosing Evolution Agents, yacht owners gain peace of mind, knowing that all aspects of Temporary Admission are expertly managed.

FAQs

TPA can remain open as long as necessary to complete the work. Generally, we request the TPA for a period of 6 months, unless it’s anticipated that the work will take more or less time to complete.

Evolution has a bonded warehouse so our Logistics team can receive and store these goods until the moment you need to receive them on board, where our TPA department will take care of linking it to your TPA file in order to deliver these goods VAT exempt View more

A TPA can be opened in any port or shipyard in Spain considered a customs zone, such as Barcelona, Palma, Tarragona, Vilanova, etc…

Not all superyachts are eligible for TPA in Spain. To qualify for this regime, the vessel must be registered under a non-EU flag, the owner must be non-EU and the vessel must not be definitively imported into the EU.

Once TPA closure is authorized, vessel must be exported to close the TPA. There are three options to do this:

  • The vessel visits a non-EU port
  • The vessel visits another Spanish port in transit
  • The vessel sails 12 nautical miles outside Spanish territorial waters
  • The vessel sails 12 nautical miles outside Spanish territorial waters

Time required to open a TPA depends entirely on Customs, normally it takes between 1 adn 3 working days from the moment the declaration is submitted to the time Customs authorises it.
